Modernization of the University of Sarajevo’s Department of Physics
We are pleased to inform you that in the past three months we have been implementing a project of thorough modernization of the laboratories and other premises of the Physics Department.
The project is worth a total of 1.5 million Euros. Its implementation is going to result with a full modernization of the Department’s teaching and research infrastructure: procurement of smart boards and projectors, establishment of a modern computer center, establishment of a video-surveillance system and electronic control over access to laboratories, modernization of the fire protection system, procurement of extremely valuable scientific research equipment (electronic microscope, differential scanning calorimeter, X-ray diffractometer, atomic force microscope, UV/VIS spectrophotometer), modernization of teaching laboratories (new laboratory furniture and laboratory equipment in all labs) and creation of a generally more attractive environment for learning and working at the Department of Physics (painting works, renovation of floors, arrangement of corridors, replacement of lighting, replacement of doors, complete renovation of toilets).
We expect that most of the project implementation activities should be completed by October 2022, i.e. until the beginning of the new academic year. Thus, we will get the opportunity to establish a doctoral program in experimental physics by academic year 2023/2024.
We are very happy about the fact that we will be able to provide our students with excellent learning opportunities, and that we will be able to additionally strengthen our leadership position when it comes to scientific research in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
