At the subdepartment for atomic, molecular and optical physics the research group SAMOPHYS (Sarajevo Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics) is involved in modelling of laser-induced processes in atomic and molecular systems, such as high-order harmonic generation, above-threshold ionization, high-order above-threshold ionization etc. The group has an active collaboration with the Max Born Institute from Berlin and many other experimental research groups all around the world, from the United States and Germany to Japan and China. The head of this department, academician Prof. Dr. Dejan Milošević was awarded in 2011 with the Sixth of April Award of the city of Sarajevo and in 2018 by the Georg Forster Research Award of the Alexander von Humbold Foundation.
